Octet Build Octet Config Build Octet Config Conf

Octet I monitor all the ethernet ports in our environment, roughly 10,000 of them. To do this, I employ the Build Octet Config script to parse our hosts table, extract the list of switches, chunks those switches into groups, and then call MRTG's own CfgMaker script. In this way, when we add or remove a blade from an ethernet switch -- or add or remove an entire switch -- MRTG adjusts appropriately. When 'build_octet_config' runs that night, it rewrites the appropriate config file to account for the latest change: no manual intervention on our part needed. Build Octet Config reads its config file and performs multple calls to cfg_mrtg.
